I close my eyes in order to see.
My first encounter with Yoga was with my friends, we met in the early morning on the hilltops of Vagator beach in Goa India. I began to study and practice Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga under the gentle and joyful guidance of Richard Spahn. It was 1992 and I was 23 years old. Since then I have always practised Yoga.
In 2007 I completed 200 hours of Ashtanga Teacher training in Dublin and with this training began teaching in London Studios and in Ibiza. I continued to explore the different approaches to Yoga ,I went on to spend the subsequent 15 years undertaking retreats with Clive Sheridan, discovering the bliss of classical Hatha Yoga, Pranayama and meditation opening to Yoga beyond the Asana and exploring the philosophy.
I have also spent time in Mysore practising at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute, studying Sanskrit and chanting the Yoga sutras of Patañjali. I have undertaken numerous workshops, silent retreats, pilgramages and further trainings. I have completed an advanced 300 hours teacher training in traditional Yoga with Claire Missingham and more recently a Yin Yoga training with Norman Blair. In 2021 i completed a year long training in Mindfulness at the Mindfullness Training Institute with Martin Aylaward and Mark Coleman, I now teach 6 week mindfulness programmes online (see the section on mindfulness and meditation for the upcoming course dates)
and I offer mindfulness and meditation in a corporate setting. I hold a weekly Sangha which helps students to continue their practice of mindfulness, commune with other mediators and form community.
As well as 30 years of continuous exploration of the primary and intermediate series of Ashtanga Yoga I've spent a lot of my life in India where the teachings really get under your skin. I like to pull together all these influences and offer a potent cocktail of Yoga that delights the senses and awakens the participants to the mystery of the magical design that we call life.
Since returning from ten years in California I have been teaching in London Studios, corporate classes in the workspace, festivals and for private clients. I'm committed to this ever flowering path of Yoga. I am teaching my own schedule of Yoga classes on Zoom. I am also an artist with a degree in the Creative and Performing Arts. I have designed and created clothes for many years and I am currently studying and writing a history of my epic travels around the world. I still continue to work in the healing fields with holistic massage and breath work.
I am a qualified Massage therapist and Clarity breath work practitioner. Please contact me via email if you would like to know more.
