Alchemy of the heart

True Nature

Sri Lanka

23rd February - March 2nd - 2025 - New moon

The Retreat

A seven day rejuvenating retreat at Talalla, nestled along the southern coast of Sri Lanka’s expansive pristine soft golden sandy beaches.  Our beach front retreat location is set on a severn acre property hosting four yoga shalas,

a freshwater pool,  a full service Ayurvedic spa and a gourmet openair restaurant.

Find yourself amongst the natural breeze of the palm trees on the peaceful secluded beach with panoramic views of the clear blue Indian Ocean and idyllic full spectrum sunsets.  A retreat offers the space to restore and take a pause, to deepen and refresh our practice and make new connections to yourself, to others and to nature.

It's a moment to breathe and settle back and recalibrate.  We will be blessed by the Hindu festival of Maha Shivaratri and the new moon.  As well as yoga, the retreat is special in that it's directed through the teachings of the Medicine wheel, the medicines of nature and the elements.  This work I call 'The Altar of our lives' and is something I have weaved together from many teachings and traditions.

The retreat reveals itself and has a therapeutic impact, it is an opportunity to delve into self realization and recognise our true nature, to honour life and all the beauty that is.  As well as our morning practice of meditation, pranayama and postures, some of our sunset sessions will be filled with yin yoga, meditation, mantra, journaling and clarity breath work.

There will also be space for sharing, laughter, creativity, relaxing in the traditional Ayurvedic spa and visiting the local temples in the village, as well as taking surf lessons and a day out in the national park visiting the elephants and hopefully seeing a leapard amongst all the other animals.  There are many excursions available on request, but rest and recuperation on the beach or by the pool is also encouraged, there is plenty of free time.  The retreat is open to all levels, you do what you can and enjoy.

Alcohol is not permitted on my retreats, so you will need to commit to this for the safety and security of all the retreat participants.  A digital detox is also encouraged.

The Venue

Talalla retreat is set in an undiscovered cove of clear turquoise water and golden sands with stunning sunrises.  Built in 2004 to host yoga and surf retreats the location is still hidden from tourists and is only really visited by local fishermen.

Tallala has a close relationship with the local village and the majority of the staff at the retreat are

from the village.  Its the perfect place to unwind away from the tourist centres in eco friendly sustainable accommodation.  The use of solar energy to power the hot water systems, the supplies and building materials have been sourced in the local area, all efforts are directed at preserving the local community and protecting

the wildlife and vegetation.  Talalla has its own organic vegetable garden and a healthy composting system

for kitchen waste.  Talalla works hard to protect and respect the local culture and the natural environment

to maintain the natural tranquility and sustainability, minimising the environmental footprint and

maximising the local economy.

As well as the yoga ,there will be opportunities to take surf lessons if you want to,  we will take a day off to take

a trip to the national park to see the wildlife.  Elephants, leapards, flamingoes and crocodiles as well as

thousands of migratory birds, There is so much to see and do in Sri Lanka I think you may want to stay a little longer if you can or arrive earlier to make time for other excursions.

You are welcome to stay at Tallala before the retreat or after, just let me know and I will arrange for you.  The retreat hosts other groups at the same time, so we are not alone on the property, but the retreat is a spacious seven acre plot and so we will not see people unless we join them for surfing or at meal times in the open air restaurant.  You never know you may meet your twin soul here, remain open.

This also means that we need to pre book our massages and treatments in the full Ayurvedic spa.  Once

deposits are paid i'll send the you the spa menu and a list of great things to see in Sri Lanka.

Our retreat programme is pretty full so I ask you to consider doing other excursions before or after the retreat as we need time for rest and reflection and quiet time wandering on the beach and in nature.  You can zip around

all you like before or after the retreat, so just a bit of surfing, spa treatments and a day off in the national park gazing at elephants in the wild.

We will connect to the history, origins, mythology and details of ceremony, building an altar to lay our collective prayers to support our growth, cleanse and empower our vision and purpose and align with the teachings of the medicine wheel for the wellbeing of humanity and our evolution here on earth.
